What is a Podiatrist?

A podiatrist is a doctor of podiatric medicine (DPM), a physician and surgeon who treats the foot, ankle, and related structures of the leg. Feet are complex anatomical structures, all-in-one stabilizers, shock absorbers, and propulsion engines that are instrumental to overall health and well-being. They require expert care.

Four out of every five Americans eventually suffer some sort of foot problem. These problems can eventually cause pain throughout the skeletal structure, and manifest themselves as pain in the knee, hip or back.

Our Provider

Dr. Atmar is a podiatric physician and surgeon specializing in the treatment of all aspects of foot and ankle disorders. Dr. Atmar graduated with his doctoral degree in podiatric medicine in 2011 from New York College of Podiatric Medicine. Continuing his education, Dr. Atmar was selected by the New York Methodist Hospital to perform his surgical residency. He also received additional surgical training at St. John Episcopal Hospital in New York before starting his private practice.

Dr. Atmar is currently serving San Diego county with hospital affiliations at Paradise Valley Hospital in National City, and North Coast Surgery Center in Oceanside. His immense dedication to patient satisfaction is evident by the relationships cultivated with his patients, and the time spent educating and developing personalized treatment plans proven to restore healthy feet.

In addition to providing individualized in-office podiatry services, Dr. Atmar also provides house-calls for patients.

When Dr. Atmar is not seeing patients, he enjoys playing soccer, and spending time with his family and friends. He also has a passion for animal advocacy, and supports several area organizations.
